Bean Bag Chairs

We don't typically recommend foam filling for the bean bag chairs, as foam doesn't provide the same structure as beans does. However, we do find that swapping 100L of beans for 120L of foam keeps some of the structure, and also adds a quieter and softer feel to the bean bag.

Which Filling Should I Choose?

Foam vs. Beans vs. Partial
Beans:
  • Pros: Traditional bean bags are filled with small, round, polystyrene beans. They're lightweight, mouldable, and offer a crinkly tactile sensation.
  • Cons: Over time, the beans can compress, leading to reduced support and comfort. You may need to refill them occasionally.
Shredded sensory Foam:
  • Pros: Foam-filled bean bags are filled with shredded memory foam. They're plush, soft, and can offer great support compared to traditional beans. They contour better to the body, providing a more enveloping sensation.
  • Cons: They might be a bit heavier than bean-filled counterparts and may not provide the same crinkly tactile sensation that some individuals might prefer.
Partial with both beans & foam:

This is a hybrid option, where the bean bag contains both beans and foam.

  • Pros: It combines the mouldability of the beans with the plush comfort of the foam.
  • Cons: Over time, the beans might still compress, but it would take significantly longer.
  • This is also a more cost effective option as the beans are very affordable. We do not sell them, but Kmart and Target do at great prices.
